First Ice Storm of 2009

Here are a few pictures of the ice storm that came through late last night and early this morning! I wish I had better pictures, but I am a wimp and it is TOO cold outside so I took these through the windows.

They did cancel school today and well, Gracie was just a tad bit excited...

A Trip to the Beauty Shop!

This weekend Lance watched the girls so I could spend the weekend at a scrapbook retreat. Scrapbooking was great and I got a lot done. I can't wait until the next one!!!

Before I left Lance made sure that I would be home in time to do the girls hair before church. He does a lot of stuff for/with the girls, but when it comes to their hair...he just leaves that one to me. He has in times of emergency done Gracie's hair, but it has been a while and well she has about 4 times more hair now. I know that the girl's hair is not easy so I told him that I would make sure that I was home in time.

Gracie had a birthday party to go to on Saturday. Lance hadn't mentioned anything about their hair for the party, but I didn't really think much of it. Well, Lance being the smart guy that he is took care of it. When I got home today Gwynie told me that Daddy took them to Sweet & Sassy to get their hair done. Ahhhh...brilliant!! He said all the moms at the party were pretty impressed with his solution. Here are a few pictures of the girls after a morning at the beauty shop with Daddy...

Getting your hair done is always fun! But, another fun part about getting her hair done is to see what it looks like after you take it down...

CRAZY!!!

Dad is Great...He let us eat Blue Cupcakes!!!

Imagine the above title being said in my best Bill Cosby impression!

I had a meeting last night for church so the girls got to spend some fun time with Lance. He stopped off at the store on his way home and bought the girls some cupcakes for dessert. There were 3 different colors of icing...white, yellow & blue. If it were me I would have just given the girls the white cupcakes. But Lance being the fun Dad that he is let the girls choose and you guessed it...they chose BLUE!!!

Just look at those faces!!!

Gwynie said her hands were "too messy" so she decided to cut out the middle man.

Mmmm...I love blue cupcakes!!

wow...I'm not sure how much icing actually made it IN her mouth.

After she was done with her cupcake she started chasing Lance around saying "Booooo...I a monster"

The girls had a blast with Daddy!! I am just glad that I got home AFTER bath time. ;)

Knitting with Nana

A few weeks back Gracie decided that she wanted Nana to teach her how to knit. So when Nana & Paw Paw came up for New Years she made sure to remind her to teach her how to knit. So on Jan 2 we headed up to Hobby Lobby to buy some knitting supplies. Nana had not knitted in over 20 years and Gracie tends to get frustrated easily at times so we weren't too sure how it was going to go. I have to admit that I was surprised that Nana remembered how to do it after 20 years and I was also shocked by how quickly Gracie picked it up. Maybe one of these days Gracie will teach me how to knit!!

Getting started...here we go!!!

Knitting along
Oops...need a little assistance from Nana!
Just look at that determination!!!

Gracie did a great job learning and Nana did a great job teaching. The end result was a beautiful bracelet. Her next goal is a pot holder!!!

New Years Eve 2008

Since we didn't get to see Nana & Paw Paw on Christmas we invited them up to spend New Years with us. They watched the girls while Lance and I went to a early New Year Eve party with some friends. Then we came home and make all sorts of yummy snacks and rang in the new year!!

Gracie enjoying the New Years Eve spread!!!

Gwynie eyeing the sausage balls!

After a few snacks we got to have Christmas Morning all over again and open up presents from Nana & Paw Paw + aunts & uncles.

Christmas 2008

Gracie woke us up bright & early Christmas morning to let us know that Santa had come and he left PRESENTS!!! She made her way around to all the exciting new toys then decided she couldn't wait anymore for Gwynie and just HAD to go and wake her up. Gwynie was not too excited about that at first but quickly changed her mind when she heard that Santa had left her toys!! After we opened all our gifts we sat down to our annual GIANT Christmas breakfast!!!

After breakfast we packed up the car and drove to Amarillo in time to make it to Great Grams house for Christmas Dinner. After dinner the kids opened their gifts and the adults had a Christmas Knick-knack exchange. We all had a good laugh when we realized that EVERY one of us hit the Kohl's 70% off sale for the exchange. Lance joked that in hindsight we could have just exchanged Kohl's $5 gift cards.

The next morning was Christmas Morning take two as we open our gifts from Grams & Grumps!!

Christmas Eve 2008

We celebrated Christmas Eve by decorating cookies for Santa. Then we got all dressed up and headed to Christmas Eve Services at church. We all had a wonderful time and Lance & I were blessed to be the Lay Readers during the service.

We came back home and had a big Christmas Eve Dinner. Lance read "The Night Before Christmas" to the girls then we each got to open ONE gift. After that it was time to set the milk & cookies out for Santa. We tucked the girls in...Gracie said she was going to try really hard to have visions of sugar plums dancing in her head while she slept. We all settled in for a "warm" winters night...in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there!
